Win over First Place Stockton Sends Iowa Wolves to All-Star Break

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Wolves beat the top team in the Western Conference, the Stockton Kings, 119-109 on Monday afternoon in NBA G League action at Wells Fargo Arena.

Iowa (6-13) snapped a three-game losing streak going into the G League All-Star break. PJ Dozier led all scorers with 33 points, his second 30+ performance in the past five games. Emmanuel Mudiay returned after missing the first game in the series Sunday. Today Mudiay had 24 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Phillip Wheeler posted a big game off the bench with 19 points.

The opening quarter was tightly contested as Iowa led 31-30 at the start of the second. The Wolves broke open the close game outscoring Stockton (14-6), 33-21, in the second fueled by five threes as a team.

Iowa maintained a double figure lead over Stockton (14-6), which trailed 28 points at one point, into midway through the final quarter. The Kings chipped away pulling all the way to down just nine points with 57.2 seconds left before Javonte Cooke made his second three in the game that ended the comeback try.

Wes Iwundu scored a team-high 21 points for the Kings. Alex O'Connell, who finished his collegiate career at Creighton University, had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Former Iowa State standout Deonte Burton finished with 10 points.

For Iowa, Jordy Tshimanga just missed a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds while Cooke had 10 points and eight rebounds as a reserve.

Following today's game, the NBA G League All-Star Break will be Feb. 14-21 with Wolves next playing on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. CT when the Mexico City Capitanes return to Wells Fargo Arena.
