Greensboro Swarm Fall to Motor City Cruise in Game 1

DETROIT - Coach Bakker and the Motor City Cruise were looking to win their third straight game, as they took on the Greensboro Swarm. The Cruise would win their third straight game with a score of 119-104.

Tonight, the Cruise would be without their leading scorer, David Nwaba. Nwaba suffered soreness in his left knee prior to tonight's game.

At the end of the first the Cruise jumped out to an early lead, with a score of 32-27. Jared Rhoden led Motor City with 10 points scored in the quarter alone. However, coming out of the first and beginning the second quarter, the Swarm went on an 11-0 run to cut Motor City's lead down to one point (32-31). After eight lead changes in the second quarter, the Cruise led 54-53 to close the first half. Jared Rhoden led the Cruise with 15 points, as Jalen Crutcher led the Swarm with 12 at the half.

Motor City cruised to begin the second half after going on a 9-0 run. Along with their run, they would hold their lead to end the third (88-80). The Cruise opened the fourth quarter on a 14-7 run and never looked back to take the win.

Jaylen Johnson had a career high night, scoring 31 points to lead the Cruise to victory. He secured his first double-double of the 2022-23 regular season after grabbing 10 rebounds. Jared Rhoden followed up with his fourth double-double of the regular season. He scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Lastly, Keifer Sykes would join the double-double parade after scoring 16 points and tallying 12 assists.

For Greensboro, Xavier Sneed led the way with 22 points. Kobi Simmons dropped 17 to follow up Sneed's performance. Both Jalen Crutcher and James Bouknight scored 14 points.

The Motor City Cruise improved to 8-11 and the Greensboro Swarm fell to 7-11. The Motor City Cruise and Greensboro Swarm will be in action once again, February 15th at the Wayne State Field House (Detroit, Michigan). Tip-off is slated for 11:00am EST.
