Scott Morrison and SLC Stars Staff to Coach NBA All-Star Next up Game

SALT LAKE CITY - The NBA G League announced that Salt Lake City Stars Head Coach Scott Morrison will coach the first ever NBA All-Star G League Next Up Game on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. MT at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Morrison's staff will also take on coaching roles on both competing teams.

In just his first season with the Stars, Morrison has led the team to a 11-9 record and ranks sixth in the Western Conference, during the regular season. The Stars held a six-game winning streak that began Jan. 30 and ended on Feb. 11. Morrison's team has secured season averages of 118.4 points, 49.1 rebounds, and 24.1 assists per game.

The Canadian coach was previously honored with the 2014-15 Dennis Johnson Coach of the Year Award with the Maine Celtics during the 2014-15 season, guiding the team to a 35-15 record, and spot in the NBA D-League Playoffs.

Morrison will be joined by Ontario Clippers' Head Coach, Paul Hewitt, who will lead the opposing team.

Other Salt Lake City Stars basketball staff members will be assistant coaches and basketball support staff: Thomas Jackson, Lowell Egan, Lawrence "Trend" Blackledge, Isaiah Swann, Doug Compton, Pete Clark, Juan Torres, La'Donna Bonner, Denzel Stovall and Chris Simonsen.

Twenty-four NBA G League players, including 10 selected by a fan vote, will compete in the Next Up Game. The team captains Luka Garza (Iowa Wolves) and Scoot Henderson (G League Ignite) will select a 12-man roster from the 24-player field during the NBA G League Next Up Game Draft, on Feb. 14th at 12 p.m. MT on NBAGLeague.com and then at 1 p.m. MT on the NBA App.
