Wilson transferred to Jacksonville; Rieger to Disabled List

Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Miami Marlins announced a pair of transactions that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Huntsville Stars at Bragan Field at 7:05 p.m.

Infielder Ryan Rieger has been placed on the disabled list (retroactive to April 3) with a left shoulder dislocation. Rieger collected an RBI triple for the Suns on Thursday but left the game after a hard collision with the third base bag.

In a corresponding move, infielder Ross Wilson has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. Wilson, a college standout at the University of Alabama, was 1-for-8 at the plate in two games with the Hammerheads this season. Originally a 10th round selection of the Chicago White Sox in 2010, Wilson saw his first Southern League action with the Birmingham Barons, hitting .229 with 3 RBI in 10 games. The Marlins signed him as a free agent prior to the 2013 season, and he split last year between Greensboro and Jupiter.

The Suns roster now stands at 25, and a revised roster is attached.

The Suns will play the third game of their five-game series with the Huntsville Stars at Bragan Field tonight at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Angel Sanchez (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will pitch for the Suns against Huntsville's right-hander Taylor Jungmann (0-0, 0.00 ERA).

Fans can listen to the game on the Suns Baseball Network on WSOS-FM 94.1 and www.jaxsuns.com with coverage beginning with the Memorial Hospital Suns Pregame Show at 6:50 p.m. ET.
