WILSON, N.C. - The Gastonia Grizzlies scored a pair of runs on Friday night and the pitching for the defending Petitt Cup Champions made it stand up as the Tobs fell 2-0 at Historic Fleming Stadium.

Gastonia (6-10) scored their first run of the game in the fifth inning on a two out single by Tanner Bryant and pushed another run in the seventh when Bryce Beeler doubled home another run and put Gastonia ahead 2-0.

Wilson (5-11) had its best scoring threat of the night with two outs in the eighth when the Tobs got back-to-back base hits but they could not scratch against Josh Peterson.

The Gastonia right-hander, Peterson, was outstanding on Friday working eight innings while scattering four hits and fanning just one to earn his first win of the season. Meanwhil, Ryan Yuengel worked seven inning for the Tobs allowing two runs (one earned) and struck out five but was the tough luck loser as Wilson fell 2-0.

The Tobs return to hit the road Saturday when they travel to J.P. Riddle Stadium to battle the Fayetteville SwampDogs with first pitch set for 7:05
