Wilmington's 2-1 Loss in Winston-Salem Gives Frederick the North

For the first time since the 2007 season the Frederick Keys have won the first half pennant in the north. Even after a Keys defeat to Salem, Wilmington's 2-1 loss in Winston-Salem has clinched the division for Frederick.

It is the fifth time in the Keys 22-year history that Frederick has won the first half in the north. In two of the Keys three championships, they claimed the first half pennant to gain berth to the playoffs (1990, 2007).

The Keys have led the north for much of the half staying above the .500 mark since the fifth game of the season. Frederick is on pace to register the second best record in a first half in franchise history. The Keys will fall short of the 1997 club that went 45-25.

It will be the eighth time in franchise history that the Keys are headed to the postseason.
