York Revolution News Release
Logan Williamson worked seven strong innings as the York Revolution won their series opener in Lancaster, 3-1 against the Barnstormers in front of 5,105 fans at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Friday evening. The Revs will look to make it back-to-back wins as the four-game series continues on Saturday night.
Williamson (2-3) allowed just one run on four hits over his seven innings. The lefty issued no walks and struck out seven batters, notching his team-best fifth quality start of the season.
Offensively, the Revs opened the scoring in the top of the fourth. After being held to just one hit over the first three innings, York got to Lancaster starter Dan Osterbrock for four hits in the fourth. The big hit came from Andres Perez who launched a two-run double off the left field fence for a 2-0 lead.
Kevin Rivers connected on a solo homer to right-center for the lone run against Williamson in the bottom of the fifth, cutting the Revs lead to 2-1.
York answered immediately in the top of the sixth as Nick Ferdinand led off with a solo homer onto the lawn seating in left field, extending the lead to 3-1. It was Ferdinand's fourth home run and 10th extra-base hit in just 15 games played with the Revs. He now has an extra-base hit in six consecutive games.
The Revs pitching staff made it count as Williamson continued a streak of eight consecutive starts to begin the season in which he has allowed two earned runs or fewer. He lowered his ERA for the season to 2.16 and his ERA as a starter to 1.34 while earning his first career victory against the Barnstormers. The lefty scattered his four hits on the night with no more than one hit in any inning.
Mike DeMark retired one batter in the eighth while Stephen Penney recorded the other two outs. Josh Judy fired a perfect ninth inning to pick up his eighth save of the year.
Osterbrock (3-4) suffered the loss despite a quality start, allowing three runs over six innings.
Notes: The Revs snap a seven-game road losing streak, earning their first road victory in June; they had totaled 11 road wins in May, a team record for a single month. York improves to 8-4 in this season's "War of the Roses" series and 4-1 at Clipper Magazine Stadium, having won each of the last four meetings in Lancaster. The Revs improve to 92-76 all-time against the Barnstormers, 43-39 at Clipper Magazine Stadium. York righty Anthony Lerew (3-3, 3.68) faces Lancaster right-hander Bryan Woodall (1-4, 5.04) in Saturday's contest at 7 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile apps beginning at 6:40 p.m. with Darrell Henry and Ray Jensen on the call.
