
Patriots Double up Skeeters 4-2

Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (38-16) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (28-27) 4-2 Friday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.
In the top of the first inning center fielder Kevin Russo slapped a RBI single to give Sugar Land a 1-0 advantage.
Catcher Chris Wallace socked a RBI single in the top of the fourth inning to expand the Sugar Land lead to 2-0.
Third baseman David Vidal smashed a home run (2) in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Patriots grabbed the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when right fielder Scott Cousins roped a RBI single and another run crossed home with pitcher Matt Wright hurled a wild pitch that plated Thomas Neal making the score 3-2 in favor of Somerset.
Somerset added another run in the bottom of the seventh inning to increase the lead to 4-2 when center fielder Jonny Tucker hit a RBI sacrifice fly.
Sean Bierman earned the win (5-1) tossing seven innings while allowing two runs. Wright sustained the loss (3-2) going six innings while surrendering three runs. Jon Hunton notched the save (12) pitching the final inning.
