Brampton Steelheads News Release
On the heels of the commitment of first-rounder James Hardie, the Mississauga Steelheads are also pleased to announce the commitment of their second-round pick from the 2018 OHL Priority Selection, William Portokalis. Selected 39th overall, the Mississauga native captained the Don Mills Flyers for the past two seasons.
The 5'10", 174-pound centreman recorded 81 points (34 goals, 47 assists) in 63 games this season, adding four points in four games at the 2018 OHL Cup. Head coach and general manager James Richmond thinks Portokalis was a second-round steal, adding "we are excited to have William and his family join our Steelheads family. His home is Mississauga, and we couldn't be happier to add another top end local player to our team. William plays with speed, is strong on the puck and is a great character kid that we're thrilled to add to our team."
The Steelheads are happy to welcome William and his family to the Steelheads.
Portokalis and fellow Steelheads' prospects will hit the ice this weekend for the Steelheads' 2018 Prospect Camp. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram to keep up with everything Steelheads.
