WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - It wouldn't be a proper game between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Hartford Wolf Pack if it didn't come down to the wire, but the Penguins were able to skate away with a 3-1 win nonetheless on Friday night at XL Center.

In the final game of a tightly contested season series between the two Atlantic Division foes, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (32-14-1-1) scored once in every period to defeat Hartford and end the season series with the upper hand, 4-2-0-0.

The Penguins opened the scoring when Josh Archibald set up Kael Mouillierat in the low slot for the game's first goal at 11:21 of the first period.

Anton Zlobin tipped in a power play goal at 8:41 of the middle frame, giving him his fourth point in four games and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton a 2-0 lead.

Hartford pulled closer at 10:26 of the third period after Marek Hrivík found Nicklas Jensen in front, making it 2-1.

The Wolf Pack continued their charge, but were ultimately held back from tying the game by Matt Murray's play between the pipes for the Penguins. Murray made 26 saves on 27 shots when it was all said and done for his 19th win of the season.

Sealing the victory for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Sahir Gill found the back of an empty net with 13 seconds left in the third, bringing the game to its final score of 3-1. Carter Rowney was given an assist on Gill's empty netter, improving his point streak to four games (4G-3A).

The Penguins successfully killed four power plays awarded to the Wolf Pack during the contest. Zlobin's game-winning goal was Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's lone man advantage marker on three opportunities.

Zlobin was named the game's first star and improved his offensive output on the season to four points (2G-2A) in four appearances with the Penguins.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton returns home for the first of back-to-back games with the Portland Pirates at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. Saturday, Feb. 13's game is also the Penguins' annual Military Night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
