Stockton Heat News Release

Stockton, Calif. - The Calgary Flames announced today that they have recalled goaltender Joni Ortio from the Stockton Heat while also having placed goaltender Karri Ramo on injured reserve. The Stockton Heat have in turn recalled goalie Kent Simpson from the team's ECHL affiliate, the Adirondack Thunder.

The 24-year-old Ortio has played in 20 games for Stockton in 2015-16 and is 9-9-0. Ortio also played four games for the Flames to start the season and was 0-2-0 when he was assigned to the Heat. The Finnish netminder was Calgary's sixth round pick (171st overall) in the 2009 NHL Draft and his four wins (including a shutout) in 2014-15 played a key role in the Flames making the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Simpson, 23, has appeared in 7 games for the Heat this season and 13 games for the Thunder, going 7-4-2 with a 2.38 goals-against-average and a .926 save-percentage while posting 3 shutouts, the most he's ever posted in a single season in his career.
