Moncton Wildcats News Release
MONCTON N.B. - The Moncton Wildcats have acquired defenseman Aleksi Anttalainen from the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in exchange for a third round pick (Victoriaville) in the 2019 QMJHL Entry Draft.
Following the announcement of Simon Le Coultre's season-ending surgery, the team was looking to fill the spot on the back end and Aleksi was a great fit. Born in Finland the 19-year-old has been with the Armada for the past two seasons, this year appearing in the lineup for 31 games, recording 11 points. After wearing the "A" this season for Blainville, Aleksi will bring some of the veteran presence back to the blue line for the second half of the season.
"Aleksi is a very good defender" said Ritchie Thibeau, Director of Hockey Operations. "His high level of compete and physical style will complement our group very well."
Anttalainen is expected to play his first game in a Wildcats uniform on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. when the team hosts the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at the Avenir Centre.
