Moncton Wildcats News Release
MONCTON N.B. - Wildcats defenseman Simon Le Coultre will no longer be in the Moncton lineup and will return to Switzerland to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. Simon first suffered the injury at our pre-season tournament in Kitchener and has been dealing with it since, forcing him to miss some time in the first half of the regular season.
Simon was drafted by the Wildcats in 2016, 39th overall in the CHL Import Draft and is now in his third season in the CHL. Appearing in 154 regular season games for the Cats and recording 60 points, Le Coultre was a solid presence on the back end with, offensive ability that will be greatly missed.
The 19-year-old European was one of our veteran defenseman this season and we will look to fill that hole moving forward. Having played in this past 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, we are proud of what he has accomplished both at the international level as well as during his time in Moncton.
"It is unfortunate that Simon requires the surgery at this time," said Director of Hockey Operations, Ritchie Thibeau. "Simon was having a very good year and was a big part of our success in the first half."
"We would like to thank Simon for his time with the Wildcats and wish him the best with his recovery and future hockey career."
The Wildcats are back in action this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. as they take on the Charlottetown Islanders. Follow along for every minute of the game with our broadcaster Tim Roszell at 105.1 FM Moncton, 99.1 FM Amherst and 107.3 FM in Sussex.
