FREDERICK, MD. - The Frederick Keys (6-8) walked-off a winner on Thursday night, taking the series opener 2-1 against the Salem Red Sox (4-10) in their return to Nymeo Field. With the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth and Jake Ring on first base, Yeltsin Gudino hit a high-fly ball to the warning track in left field that was dropped by Jagger Rusconi. That put runners on second and third base with Mason McCoy at the plate. Facing a 2-0 count, Devon Fisher's (0-2) pitch sailed to the backstop and Ring slid home safely to secure the 2-1 win.

Keys starter Cameron Bishop and Red Sox's starter Bryan Mata traded scoreless innings throughout the first five innings of action until Pedro Castellanos doubled in a run to make it 1-0 in the sixth. Bishop retired the next three batters and finished the day with eight strikeouts over six innings, the longest outing for a Keys starter this season. Mata was yanked after five and two-thirds innings pitched, where he walked three, surrendered three hits and struck out six.

The Keys finally scored a run in the seventh inning after Kirvin Moesquit singled, stole a base, advanced to third base on a balk, and scored on a fielding error from the second baseman to tie the game 1-1. The Red Sox had a runner in scoring position in the eighth, but Cameron Ming (1-0) held him there. Ming tossed three scoreless frames and only gave up two hits while striking out a pair. The two teams combined to go 0-for-16 with runners in scoring position.

The Keys and Red Sox are scheduled to square off on Friday night at 7:00pm. LHP DL Hall (0-0, 3.86 ERA) takes the mound for the Keys opposite Red Sox starter Enmanuel De Jesus (0-2, 4.50 ERA). Friday's promotional night includes Mystery Night, where the first 750 fans will be given a mystery bobblehead. Fans can also purchase mystery autographed baseballs for $10. All proceeds benefit the Frederick Keys Care Fund. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn radio app.

The Frederick Keys are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and play their home games at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
