
Wild Things Lose to Roosters 4-3

Washington, PA â The Richmond Roosters (28-21 ) defeated the Washington Wild Things (26-20), presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank Monday by a score of 4-3. The loss came in front of 3,671, the sixth straight sellout crowd and 17th of the season.
Richmond scored first in the top of the fourth when Pete Pirman singled to drive in Key Voshell and Tim Marks.
The Wild Things made it 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth. Jon Cahill was walked home after four walks in the last five batters.
In the sixth, Jose Sandoval, Jr. had a lead off home run for the Roosters to make it 3-1. Washington answered in the bottom of the inning when Jason Kane drove in Ryan Ellis after Ellis had been walked on.
The Wild Things evened the score at 3-3 with a lead off home run by Jake Bollig in the bottom of the eighth.
The score remained tied at three until the top of the 10th, when Pirman drove in Sandoval, Jr. on a single for the game winning run.
Doug Garcia went 3-5 in the game. Richmond brought in five relievers, and Washington brought in three. Mike Henry got the win for Richmond, improving his record to 5-1.
The Wild Things start the three-day All-Star Break tomorrow. The Frontier League All-Star Game will be held in Sauget, IL, the home of the Gateway Grizzlies, on Wednesday. The Wild Things have a league high six players in the game.
The Wild Things return home on Friday for a four game series with the Florence Freedom. Friday night will be a double header, with five innings being played in the first game from an away rain-out in Florence, and seven innings in the second game.
