Kings Earn Series Sweep against Freedom

On Thursday June 14, The Kalamazoo Kings finished their three game homestand against The Florence Freedom. Matt Sheets got the nod for the Kings and was solid through eight. Sheets only walked three batters, struck out nine, and only allowed one run.

The Kings offense started in the second inning as all-star outfielder Darryl Blaze had an RBI sacrifice pop out. The second run came from another all-star Tino Burgos, as he had a RBI single. The Freedom's only run came in the fourth inning as Matt Singer had a solo shot to right field. The Kings were able to get another run in the third as Phil Archer collected his second homerun of the year. The final run came in the eighth as Darryl Blaze collected his second RBI of the game. The Kings sent in Greg Wiltshire in the ninth to collect his eighth save on the season.

This win earned the Kings first series sweep of the year. The Kings improved to 21-26 and The Freedom fell to 9-37.

The next Kings home game will be on July 27 as they host The Chillicothe Paints for a three-game series.
