
Grizzlies Rip Mavericks for Sweep

The Gateway Grizzlies banged out a season-high 20 hits to take down the Mid-Missouri Mavericks 15-7 Monday night in Columbia, MO. The Grizzlies improve to 25-20. The Mavericks are now 18-30. The Grizzlies finish the first-half in at least a tie for first place in the Frontier League West Division.
Wayne Astrauskas started things off with an RBI-single in the 2nd. That made it 1-0. Phil Warren followed with his seventh homer of the season-a grand slam to make it 5-0. Oscar Vargas then homered and it was 6-0 after two innings.
The Grizzlies made it 11-0 with five more in the fifth inning, before Mid-Missouri ever got on the board.
Phil Warren had the best night, going for 3-5 with 6 RBIs. Chris Klosterman was also 3-5, he had an RBI. Astrauskas and Jimmmy Reiter each had two hits and two RBIs on the night.
Scott Patterson won his fourth of the year. He went seven innings allowing five runs on seven hits. He struck out four. He is now 4-0.
The Grizzlies and the Frontier League are off until Friday when the Grizzlies will begin the second half with a road series at Cook County beginning Friday.
