Washington Wild Things News Release
The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, lost to Chillicothe Thursday evening 4-1 before a record setting crowd of 4,105 at Falconi Field.
Paints first basemen Darin Kinsolving went 2 for 4 with a home run in the eighth inning off of reliever Clayton Ewen to pace the Chillicothe attack. Washington starting pitcher Jared Howton was locked into a scoreless game with Paints starter Shannon Royal until the sixth inning. Chillicothe scored three runs off of Howton and knocked him out of the game. The Paints added a run in the eighth on Kinsolving's solo home run. Jay Coakley broke up the shutout with a double in the eighth that plated Josh Loggins.
Royal pitched 5 2/3 innings for his third win of the season. Howton took the loss, making his record 3-1.
The Wild Things will host the Paints Friday night at 7:05. Mickey O'Quinn and Nick Aiello are the projected starters for the Paints and Wild Things. The Wild Things will celebrate Independence Day with a post game fireworks display.
The Wild Things actually started celebrating Independence Day early. The standing room only crowd of 4,105 is the largest crowd to ever attend a Wild Things' game at Falconi Field
The Wild Things are ahead of the attendance pace they set in 2002 at Falconi Field. Attendance figures are up 14% over 2002 in spite of the unusually wet spring the tri-state area experienced in May and June.
