Wild Things Best Lake Erie, 3-1 Final

AVON, OH-The Wild Things were victorious in their second game of their three-game series with the Lake Erie Crushers by a score of 3-1 on Saturday night. Matt Sergey earned the win for Washington with six strikeouts, allowing only three hits and one run in his six innings of work. Hunter Adkins suffered the loss for Lake Erie. Matt Purnell earned his second save of 2015.

The Wild Things got on the board early as Sam Mende hit a double in the top of the second that scored CJ Beatty. On the following at bat, Lee Orr hit a ground rule double that brought around Mende to making it a 2-0 contest. Mende was able to score again in the top of the fourth inning on a wild pitch by Adkins to give the Wild Things an even larger lead.

Lake Erie was able to eliminate the chances of a shutout in the bottom of the fifth inning when Juan Sanchez hit an RBI single scoring Cody Stevens. Washington was able to hold the Crushers offense for the remainder of the evening, securing the 3-1 victory.

The Wild Things and Crushers will face off in the finale of their three-game series this Sunday, June 14.
