Washington, PA â The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, avenged their season-opening loss by beating the Ohio Valley Red Coats 7-5 Thursday in front of a crowd of 2,526.
The Wild Things built an early lead, scoring eight hits and plating six runs through four innings.
Ryan Douglass got the win for the Wild Things. Douglass, who pitched six innings, allowed six hits with five runs â four earned â and struck out three. Chris Bova, Corey O'Halek relieved. And Jim Popp got the save for the Wild Things, allowing no hits and striking out one in two innings.
The Wild Things right fielder, Mike Arbinger scored two runs on three hits with two RBI. Third baseman Lance Koenig scored one run on two hits with one RBI.
Ohio Valley's Dan Baysinger drops to 0-1 with the loss.
The Wild Things face the Red Coats for the third of their three game series Friday. First pitch for the game to be broadcast on WJPA 95.3 FM is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
