
Rockford rolls Grizzlies for second consecutive night

For the second night in a row the Rockford RiverHawks pounded the Gateway Grizzlies. The RiverHawks beat up on the Grizzlies 13-4 Thursday night in front of 2,249 at GMC Stadium. Rockford is 2-0 on the young season. The Grizzlies are 0-2.
Jimmy Reiter was the only Grizzlies to manage more than one hit. He was 2-3. Todd Oetting and Shawn Smarsh were each 1-4 with two-run home runs. Both hit their shots in a four-run first inning. Reiter's was the only hit for the Grizzlie after the first inning.
Ryan Herrara started and took the loss for the Grizzlies. Herrara lasted just an 1 1/3 innings. He gave up five earned runs on six hits.
The Grizzlies and 'Hawks will finish the series with a 7:05 game Friday night at GMC Stadium. It is a Family Happy Hour. The gates will open at 4:30 p.m. with concession specials at the Great Grizzlie Grill. fans will have the opportunity to see the Grizzlies take batting practice.
