Wild Pitch Leads to Winnipeg Win in Nightcap

WINNIPEG, Mb. - The Kansas City T-Bones (13-6) rallied from a four-run deficit to tie the game at six, but a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning gave the Winnipeg Goldeyes (11-9) their first win of a four-game set in the nightcap of tonight's doubleheader, 7-6.
Ray Sadler gave the T-Bones the first lead of the game with a sacrifice fly off Antony Bello in the first inning. Winnipeg quickly answered against Reid Santos, scoring three times on two hits and an error in the bottom of the frame. Juan Diaz plated the first run with an RBI groundout before a throwing error by first baseman Ryan Fox allowed two runners to score.
The Goldeyes added two more runs on a single by former T-Bone Aharon Eggleston in the second for a 5-1 advantage. Jim Fasano pushed the score to 5-2 with an RBI single in the fourth and Diaz added another Winnipeg run with an RBI single of his own in the bottom of the fifth.
Santos was charged with six runs, four earned, on seven hits in four and one-thirds innings. Bello left after five having allowed two runs on five hits. Neither factored into the decision.
Kansas City used four hits and one error to tie the game in the top of the sixth inning. The first four batters reached against Philip Roy, with an RBI double by Sadler bringing the T-Bones within three. Ian Thomas (3-0) entered and surrendered a sacrifice fly to Ryan Fox with the bases loaded before striking out Keith Hernandez for the second out of the frame. The next batter, Jimmy Mojica, doubled home two runs to bring the teams even.
Thomas got the win for Winnipeg after recording all three outs in the sixth.
Kyle Dahman (0-1) finished the fifth inning for Kansas City before hitting the first batter in the sixth. After his errant throw on a pickoff attempt pushed the runner to second, a sacrifice bunt put the go-ahead run at third with one out. Erik Hamren entered and induced a groundout before walking Brett Wallace with two outs. A wild pitch to the next batter gave the Goldeyes a 7-6 lead.
Dahman suffered the loss after allowing one unearned run without surrendering a hit in an inning of relief.
The T-Bones pushed the tying run to second against Bobby Korecky in the seventh but the right-hander closed out the contest for his second save of the season.
