Redhawks Sign Krause; Schrader Drafted By Padres

FARGO, ND - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks are adding a local talent, while another is heading to affiliated baseball.

The RedHawks have signed former Concordia College INF Jake Krause to a contract, while newly signed RHP Adam Schrader was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 39th round of the draft today and has left the team to await his assignment, the Northern League club announced today. Krause will be in uniform tonight as the RedHawks face off against the Schaumburg Flyers. First pitch is at 7:02pm.

Krasue, 22, played under current RedHawks first base coach Bucky Burgau at Concordia. In 2010, he led the team in hits (51), runs (38), home runs (6), total bases (80), slugging percentage (.625) and stolen bases (24). Krause also tied for the team lead in RBI (30) and finished second in batting average (.398). He wrapped up his career as a Cobber by being named to the 2010 MIAC All-Conference team as well as the ABCA All-Midwest Region team.

A native of Moorhead, MN, and Moorhead High School graduate, Krause also played football and hockey at both Concordia and Moorhead High. He is the sixth former Spud to suit up for the RedHawks, joining 1B/LHP Tony Kunka, RHP Greg Salvevold and RHP Brad Keenan, OF Dan Geiszler and RHP Shane Bushland.

Schrader, 23, had yet to appear in a game for the RedHawks after signing with the club on Monday. The former Southwest Minnesota State University star learned today that he had been drafted by the Padres.
