Schaumburg Drops its Fourth in a Row

June 9, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Schaumburg Flyers News Release

Fargo, ND - The Pilots (5-14) seem to keep every game close, consistently having a chance to win. Yet, Schaumburg just has not been able to get over the hump and loses another close one, 3-1, to the Redhawks (12-5).

Pilots starter Alain Quijano put together his second impressive performance of the year. The lefty allowed just three runs on five hits, striking out five and walking just one in 6.1 innings.

Quijano threw six solid innings, surrendering just one unearned run that came home on a Nic Jackson groundout after catcher Richard Mercado committed a throwing error trying to nab Zach Penprase stealing second.

The bottom of the seventh inning started off for the Redhawks with a Jesse Hoorelbeke laser off the left field wall for a stand-up double. Quijano got Alan Rick to ground out, but then allowed a bloop double down the first base line to Carlo Cota that second baseman Joe Pauley couldn't get to, scoring Hoorelbeke to give the Redhawks a 2-1 lead. Cory Patton then brought in Cota on a single up the middle for Fargo-Moorhead's third run of the night.

The Pilots wrap up their four game series with the Redhawks on Thursday evening.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:02 PM. Join Alex Perlman on 1410 WRMN and flyersbaseball.com for all the action as the Pilots take on the Redhawks. The Schaumburg Pilots Pregame Show gets rolling at 6:45 PM with the game to follow.
