Wenatchee Wild News Release

With only eight remaining series left in the 2014-2015 schedule, Wenatchee has traveled back to Fairbanks, Alaska to face off against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Despite a very strong effort, the Wild unfortunately lost the game to Fairbanks 1-7. January 24th is the second and final match of the series, but more importantly, this second game is the final time the Ice Dogs and the Wild will meet each other from across the face off circle this season. Without a doubt, this final game will be full of power and Wenatchee will be looking to leave a memorable mark with their long time Alaskan rival.

Going into this match three minutes and thirty one seconds, Jesper Ohrvall scored the Ice Dogs' first point of the game with the help he received from Jacob Hetz and Chandler Madry. Less than a minute later, Yannick Vedel put Fairbanks up 2-0. Johnny Mueller and Lonnie Clary had the assists on this goal.

Starting off the period once again, Ohrvall scored the opening point five minutes into the middle frame. Assistance came from Hetz and Madry. Eleven minutes and forty nine seconds into the period, Colin Burston scored Wenatchee's lone goal of the game. Brendan Harris and Ryan Gotelaere were able to record the Wild's pair of assists. Ohrvall scored his hat trick at the 12:08 mark with a sole assist from Jacob Hetz.

Jesper Ohrvall scored his fourth goal and the Ice Dogs' fifth, eight minutes and thirty eight seconds into the third period. Hetz and Madry were credited with these assists. At 11:24, Ethan Somoza put Fairbanks up 6-1 on the power play, with help from Ohrvall and Robin Karlsson. The last goal of the game was scored at the 19:16 mark when Somoza netted his second of the night. Hans Gorowsky and Todd Burgess picked up the last assists of the night.

Wenatchee ended the night with a 14-10-7 shot record and only three infractions. Penalties went to Chris Jones (Kneeing), Colin Burston (Roughing), and Dakota Raabe (Tripping).

Zach Quinn was in the net for 60 minutes and was able to stop 27 shots on goal out of 34.

To quote Coach Littler, "Absolutely a butt kicking from start to finish. They won the majority of battles all night long. They were better in every area from coaching to effort. We will see who has the mental toughness to rebound from this tomorrow."

Tomorrow night, January 24th, the second and final game of this series will take place in Fairbanks' Big Dipper Ice Arena. This match has a 7:30 pm AKST puck drop!
