Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Charleston, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 7-4 against the Charleston RiverDogs on Thursday night.

The game started as a pitchers' duel between Joey Marciano for Augusta and Jio Orozco for Charleston. The game was scoreless for the first four innings, with both pitchers only giving up a handful of hits.

Then in the fifth inning, the GreenJackets would strike first against Orozco. With men on first and second base, Nick Hill would double off the right field wall to clear the bases. This big 2-out hit, put the GreenJackets out in front 2-0.

In the bottom of the inning, with Marciano still on the mound, Charleston would slowly comeback. They would put up two runs in the inning off the bats of Pablo Olivares and Wilkerman Garcia to tie the game. Charleston would keep going as they would add two more runs to take a 4-2 lead after five innings.

This would stay the score until the eighth inning, when the Riverdogs would put up three runs to take control of the ballgame. The GreenJackets did not give up, putting across two runs in top of the ninth inning. The tying run did come up to the plate, but the GreenJackets couldn't complete the comeback.

The Riverdogs took game two of the series 7-4. Augusta will go for the series win tomorrow at 7:05 pm in Charleston.

After the six game road trip, the GreenJackets will be at home for a seven game homestand. On July11th against the Lexington Legends, we will have 9 Innings of Networking! Then on the 12th, The CSRA's Biggest Sock Hop!
