Frederick Keys News Release

Frederick, MD - Frederick Keys infielder/outfielder Robbie Widlansky has been named Player of the Month in the Carolina league for the month of August. Widlansky led the circuit, batting .356 with 22 RBI's in 29 games. It is the second time Widlansky has led the league in batting in the last three months as he posted a .395 average to pace the league in June.

The Orioles 11th round pick in 2007 out of Florida Atlantic, Widlansky was Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year after batting .430 in his senior season in 2007. In his second professional season, Widlansky was a New York Penn League All Star with Aberdeen in 2008.

The Coral Springs, FL product was called up from extended spring training May 19th and soon earned a role as an everyday player in the Keys lineup. After playing just four games in May, Widlansky has played in more than 20 games in each of the next three months since.

Widlansky is the lone Frederick Key to twice earn the honor of League Player of the Week doing so for the weeks ending on June 21st and August 9th. He is on pace to be the first Frederick Key to claim the Carolina League batting title since Rick Short did so in 1997. Widlansky is currently batting .348.
