September 3, 2009 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
The Lynchburg Hillcats will host a benefit for Hannah Johnson on Sunday September 6. Hannah, the 6-year-old daughter of Hillcats groundskeeper/sales director Darren Johnson, was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year. The benefit will consist of an auction with sports memorabilia items, a 50/50 raffle and Hannah will throw out the first pitch prior to Lynchburg's 6:05 p.m. game against Salem.
The Hillcats Booster Club will conduct the auction. Some of the notable items that will be auctioned off include a baseball signed by four Hall of Fame members from the Chicago Cubs, Ernie Banks, Ferguson Jenkins, Ryne Sandberg and Billy Williams and a C. C. Sabathia autographed baseball. Other items include a baseball autographed by former Hillcat start Aramis Ramirez, a Darryl Strawberry bobblehead, an autographed photo of Denny McClain and a baseball autographed by Willie McCovey, Phil Niekro, Duke Snider and Yogi Berra.
In addition to the auction and 50/50 raffle, fans can donate money for Hannah's medical treatment by contacting the Hillcats front office at (434) 528-1144.
