K-Tribe Notes for Thursday at Frederick

Playoff Picture - Kinston, Salem and Winston-Salem are now tied for first place in the Carolina League Southern Division with five games to play. Winston-Salem is already in the playoffs via a first half championship. There is no advantage in regards to home games, how many home games, etc., if you win the second half or get into the playoffs with the Wild Card birth. Myrtle Beach was officially eliminated from the playoff race last night. After tonight's game, Kinston will play their final four games at Potomac, Salem will take on Lynchburg.

Big Hits, Big Night - The K-Tribe racked up 17 hits and 14 runs last night. The hit total is their second most this season, their run total ranks third.

OBP Brothers - Cord Phelps and Tim Fedroff continue to set the table from the top of the lineup. Phelps went 2-3 with three walks and a K-Tribe season high four runs scored last night. Phelps leads the Carolina League with 90 walks this season and has the third best on-base percentage at .384. Fedroff went 1-for-3 with three runs and three walks last night. Fedroff is second in the CL in obp with a .387 mark and ninth in the Carolina League with a .279 batting average. The duo has combined for 10 walks so far in this series.

All-Star Celebration - Speaking of Phelps and Fedroff, the duo was named to the Carolina League End of Season All-Star Team last night at the convenient time of 8:40 pm. Former K-Triber Lonnie Chisenhall also made the list as a utility infielder, even though the North Carolina native was promoted to Double A Akron on August 8th.

Ole Cow - Ole Sheldon kept it going with a season high four hits last night, going 4-for-5 with three rbi and a run score. Sheldon is now 6-for-8 with 8 RBI in the series. Sheldon has now racked up fourteen RBI over the last four games. Sheldon has an eight game hit streak going, with four straight multi-hit games. He has a seven game RBI streak going and a six game run streak.
