
WhiteWings Drop Second Game of Doubleheader to Dillas

HARLINGEN - The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings fell to the Amarillo Dillas 6-2 in seven innings in game two of a doubleheader Wednesday at Harlingen Field.
The Dillas (25-15) got on the board against Marcel Prado (0-2) in the top of the second. Daryl Jones, Stephen Douglas, and Alberto Cruz hit consecutive doubles and Ron Recuenco hit an RBI-single to make it 3-0.
The Dillas loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the third and got one run on a wild pitch. After an out, an intentional walk reloaded the bases and a walk by Recuenco forced in another run to make it 5-0.
The WhiteWings (15-23) responded against Chris Ingoglia in the bottom of the fourth by loading the bases with nobody out. Luany Sanchez scored on a wild pitch, and after a walk reloaded the bases, Roberto Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly to make it 5-2.
Chris Nyman (3-2) took over for the Dillas in the fifth and pitched two scoreless innings for the win.
The Dillas added an unearned run in the top of the seventh to complete the scoring.
The WhiteWings and Dillas complete this four game series on Thirsty Thursday, presented by Local's Lounge, Fox 2 Cable 6 and Q 94.5 the Rock Station at 7:05 p.m., when fans can get $1 draft beers and cans of sodas as well as $2 bottles of both beer and soda. Gates open at 6:05. Right-hander Luis Montano (3-2) is expected to pitch for the WhiteWings.
