Harlingen - United League Baseball's Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announced today that they have acquired catcher Luany Sanchez (6-1, 180) from the Laredo Broncos for first baseman Salvador Paniagua (6-1, 240).
Sanchez joined the WhiteWings for their playoff-run during the second half of 2007, hitting .250 with three home runs and nine RBI in 26 games.
Sanchez joined the Broncos in 2008 and had a career year, hitting .319 with 18 home runs and 71 RBI in 77 games.
Sanchez is hitting (16-for-77) in 21 games with one home run and six RBI for the Broncos this season. He has also thrown out 7-of-40 would-be base stealers.
Paniagua is hitting .324 with nine home runs (fourth in the league) and 34 RBI.
