August 5, 2012 - North American League (NAmL)
Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release

EDINBURG- In likely their last game before the scheduled arrival of American League Most Valuable Player Jose Canseco, the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings saw the meek inherit the spotlight in a 5-4 victory against the McAllen Thunder at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Erinzon Bautista (2-0), who began this season struggling as a long reliever, pitched seven shutout innings for the WhiteWings (39-29), allowing only four hits and walking four batters to earn the pitching victory in his second start and best outing of the season.

The WhiteWings rallied for four runs off Thunder (25-44) starter Brian Murphy (4-5) in the fifth inning, with Leugim Barroso's 2-run double to right center field highlighting the frame.

Ruddy Yan, who now leads the North American Baseball League with a .366 average and is on a 14 game hitting streak, singled in a run in the eighth on his third hit of the game to make the score 5-0. But McAllen rallied for two runs in the eighth inning on a 2-run Antoin Gray double off Alberto Reyes, then added two more runs in the ninth before Nick Lenzendorf induced Gray to ground out with the bases loaded and two out to earn his seventh save of the year.

Rio Grande Valley has now beaten McAllen four straight times. The two teams will meet in the second game of their four game series at 7:05 p.m. with Canseco expected to be in the lineup for the WhiteWings.
