San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas --- Led by centerfielder Jason Martin, the Abilene Prairie Dogs defeated the Colts, 4-2, Sunday night at Foster Field.
Martin went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. He also reached base in four of his five plate appearances. The lone exception was when he drove in a run on a sacrifice fly out to centerfield.
Abilene took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but San Angelo tied it in the bottom of the inning. Shortstop Danny Hernandez was hit by a pitch to begin the inning and later scored from second base on an RBI single by designated hitter Cory Patton.
Prairie Dogs' starter Billy Petrick kept the Colts scoreless through the next four innings, though. Meanwhile, Abilene's offense tacked on three runs to go ahead 4-1. Martin drove in two of the three runs, and scored the other.
Petrick (5-2) got the win, striking out a game high nine batters. The former Major Leaguer allowed two runs, one earned, on nine hits in eight innings. Closer Ray Silva threw a perfect ninth inning to collect his team-best seventh save.
Colts' starter Logan Williamson (7-2) took a rare loss. He gave up four runs, three earned on six hits in seven innings. For Williamson, it is his first loss since June 17.
The win improves Abilene to 28-40, while the loss drops San Angelo to 35-34. This series continues Monday night at Walt Driggers Field in Abilene. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and the game can be heard live on KKSA beginning at 6:50 p.m.
The Colts return home on Tuesday to play game three of this four-game series against Abilene. It will be a $2 Tuesday, sponsored by Budweiser. General admission tickets and many food and drink items are only $2, courtesy of Budweiser.
The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
