West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - Thursday's scheduled season-opener between the West Michigan Whitecaps and Dayton Dragons at Fifth Third Ballpark has been postponed, the team announced Thursday afternoon.

Due to consistent rain leading to a local flood advisory issued by the National Weather Service, the decision was made to make up the game as part of a doubleheader this Saturday beginning at 1pm. Saturday's twin bill will consist of two seven-inning games with a 30-minute break in between.

Tickets for Thursday's game can be exchanged for any home game throughout the 2015 season at the Fifth Third Ballpark Box Office, while tickets to Saturday's contest can be used to watch both games of the doubleheader.

Opening Day will now take place Friday night at Fifth Third Ballpark beginning at 6:35pm. Gates will open at 5:00 pm. RHP Artie Lewicki will pitch for the Whitecaps against RHP Tyler Mahle in Friday's opener. Pitchers Jeff Thompson and Spencer Turnbull are scheduled to start for the Whitecaps during Saturday's twin bill.

Friday's Game will include many of the same festivities. Mittens will be given away to the first 1,000 fans presented by Fifth Third Bank, a spectacular post-game Family Fare fireworks show, and a 50/50 raffle courtesy of the Whitecaps Community Foundation. For more information on Opening Day visit www.whitecapsbaseball.com . If you can't make it to the ballpark, radio coverage will begin at 6:15 p.m. on 107.3 WBBL-FM and the Whitecaps Radio Network.
