(Burlington, IA) - Bees' infielder Fran Whitten drove in two runs, in a four hit night, backing the strong pitching from Sean Newcomb in a Bees' 9-3 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on opening night at Community Field.

Fran Whitten kicked off the scoring in the bottom of the first, lining a single to right field, scoring both Caleb Adams and Andrew Daniel, putting the Bees on top 2-0.

Wisconsin cut the Bees' lead to 2-1 in the fourth inning, thanks to an RBI triple off the bat of Jose Pena, scoring Brandon Diaz.

Sean Newcomb pitched five innings for the Bees, allowing just one run on two hits, striking out nine.

The Bees grabbed their two run lead back in the fifth on a Natanael Delgado sac fly, scoring Andrew Daniel, upping the Bees' lead to 3-1.

Jake Yacinich opened the up in the sixth, with a two run single, scoring both Brandon Gildea and Michael Hermosillo. Later that inning, Andrew Daniel sent a fly ball to left, scoring Yacinich to up the lead to 5-1.

The Bees added three more runs in the eighth inning as the Bees went on to win 9-3. Michael Hermosillo reached base five times for the Bees, going 2-for-2 with three walks.

Sean Newcomb (1-0) picked up the win while Wisconsin starter, Victor Diaz (0-1) was charged with the loss.
