Ryan Walker assigned to Kernels roster and placed on 7-day DL

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that INF Ryan Walker has been assigned to the Kernels roster and placed on the 7-day DL with appendicitis. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

The Twins selected Walker in the 18th round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Texas at Arlington. He played the entire 2014 season with the Kernels, batting .239 with eight doubles and 24 RBI in 76 games.

With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players with seven players currently on the DL and one player on the restricted list.

The Kernels begin the 2015 MWL season on the road tonight against Kane County at 6:30 PM. They open the 2015 MWL home season with a six game home stand that begins Sunday, April 12 against Beloit at 4:05 PM and continues through Friday, April 17th.
