
Whitecaps one scoreless loss from team record

COMSTOCK PARK - Dayton beat the Whitecaps, 6-0 to hand West Michigan its 15th shutout loss of the season. The team record is 16 shutout defeats, established in 1998.
It was the fourth time in the last nine games that the Whitecaps have been shutout.
Jason Bour led the Dragons offense with a home run, a double and two runs scored. Zack Cozart, Neftali Soto and Denis Phipps each had two hits for Dayton. Phipps drove in two runs.
Jordan Newton tripled and doubled for the Whitecaps.
Cory Middleton narrowly missed a two-run home run in the second inning for West Michigan, but Keltavious Jones jumped at the wall to make an inning ending catch.
The next batter in the game was Bour, who hit a home run. Dayton went on to score three more runs in the third with two out.
Single runs were added by the Dragons in the fourth and ninth innings to provide the final margin of victory.
West Michigan left a runner in scoring position in each of the first four innings and in the eighth.
Enerio Del Rosario pitched six innings and combined with Daniel Guerrero one the shutout. Guerrero earned a three inning save.
In addition to Newton, Justin Henry and Ronnie Bourquin had two hits each for West Michigan.
