Beloit Sky Carp News Release

The Snappers dropped game two of a four-game set with the Burlington Bees on Friday night by a 4-2 final. With the loss the Snappers now find themselves five games behind the second place Cedar Rapids Kernels in a race for the second half wild card position.

The Snaps jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on Friday, scoring a run on an RBI-double from Rene Leveret in the top of the first. Leveret's double scored Estarlin De Los Santos, who earlier reached on an error.

Burlington then tied the game up at 1-1 with a run of their own in the bottom of the first inning. David Lough cracked a lead-off solo home run to left field off Beloit starter Shooter Hunt.

Beloit regained the lead right away with another run in the top of the second inning. Chris Cates smoked an RBI-single to right field allowing Greg Yersich, who earlier singled, to score. Yersich's run put the Snappers up 2-1 after one and a half.

That would be all the runs the Snappers would score, however, as the Bees came back to a run in the third and two more in the fifth. The three runs by Burlington put them up 4-2 after five innings.

Bees' reliever Brandon Sisk came on in the top of the eighth and recorded the final six outs of the game to pick up the save. Sisk, who struck out five of the six batters he faced, and the Bees extended their lead over the Snappers by nine and a half games, and now hold a four and a half game lead over the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
