West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

Former West Michigan Whitecaps' catcher Rob Brantly has been promoted to the Major Leagues by the Miami Marlins, leaving him poised to become the 99th former Whitecaps player to reach the Big Leagues.

As we close in on having 100 players work their way from West Michigan to the Major Leagues, the Whitecaps are currently running a promotion in which fans are invited to guess who the 100th player will be.

Brantly, a third-round pick of the Detroit Tigers in the 2010 draft, began his professional career with the Whitecaps during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. He was in Triple-A when the Tigers traded him to the Miami Marlins in July as part of the Anibal Sanchez deal.
