Beloit, WI - The Peoria Chiefs rallied to tie the game in the eighth but lost a half inning later on an unearned run to take a 3-2 loss to the Beloit Snappers Monday night. The loss drops the Chiefs to 19-31 on the half and 54-65 on the season.

Beloit took an early lead with the long ball against Yao-Lin Wang. Top Twins prospect Miguel Sano started the bottom of the second with a line drive homer to the right of the batters eye, his Midwest League leading 24th of the season. Kennys Vargas made it two in a row as he homered to the left of the batters eye for a quick 2-0 lead. The homer was the ninth of the season for Vargas in 21 games and his fourth against the Chiefs.

The Chiefs only got one base runner past first base in seven innings against Beloit starter Matt Tomshaw. Jorge Soler started an eighth inning rally with a double to left-center off reliever Mason Melotakis. Soler scored on a throwing error by Vargas at first base with Wes Darvill reaching second. Darvill moved to third on a bunt and scored on Oliver Zapata's sacrifice fly to tie the game 2-2.

Beloit came back in the bottom of the eighth against reliever Austin Reed. Nate Roberts singled and both runners were safe as Reed bobbled Wang-Wei Lin's sacrifice bunt. Eddie Rosario flew out to left and Zapata threw out Roberts at third for a double play as Lin took second. Sano beat out an infield single to put runners on the corners and the Chiefs intentionally walked Vargas to load the bases. A walk to Drew Leachman forced home Lin and gave Beloit a 3-2 lead.

Wang allowed two runs on three hits over six innings in a no-decision. Two of the three hits were solo homers and Wang struck out four in his second straight quality start. Reed (4-6) took the loss allowing an unearned run on three hits and two walks over two innings.

Casey's General Store Player of the Game - Jorge Soler (RF) - Soler doubled, singled and scored the Chiefs first run Monday night. He was 2-for-3 and is batting .357 in four games.
