Appleton, Wis. - It has been a struggle at times against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2012, but Sunday afternoon was not one of those times for the Clinton LumberKings. Clinton pounded out 15 hits en route to a convincing 9-4 win in front of 4,006 fans at Time Warner Cable Field.

Ramon Morla wasted no time getting Clinton a lead as he cranked a three-run homer out to deep left in the first inning, scoring Jamal Austin and Dan Paolini. It was Paolini who came through in the second inning when he delivered a two-out, run-scoring base hit to bring in Anthony Phillips to make it 4-0. Wisconsin got two runs back in the second inning on a home run by Greg Hopkins with Cameron Garfield on first. At 4-2 after the second inning, that's as close as Wisconsin would get.

The LumberKings picked up a single tally in the third inning on Phillips' sac fly and then exploded in the sixth inning against reliever Michael White. Catcher David Villasuso got things started with a single through the left side. Chris Taylor was hit by a pitch and Austin singled, for the third time in the game, to load the bases. Paolini hit a scorcher off the glove of third baseman Brandon Macias and into left field for another RBI single. With the bases still loaded, Morla hit into a 4-6-3 double play, plating pinch-runner Jharmidy De Jesus to make it 7-2.

White was one out away from getting out of the inning when Jabari Blash made it 9-2 with a mammoth two-run blast out to left center. Wisconsin added a pair of runs late but the damage was done. Clinton was led by Austin, Paolini, Blash, Patrick Brady and Dillon Hazlett who all had multi-hit games. Kyle Hunter picked up his third win of the year on four scoreless innings in relief of Jordan Shipers. Jeremy Dobbs pitched the final three innings and notched his first save with Clinton.

The two teams meet for the rubber match in the series on Monday night in Appleton. Clinton sends right-hander Seon-Gi-Kim (3-3, 5.03) to the mound and Wisconsin counters with right-hander Eric Semmelhack (1-1, 5.82). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
