DAYTON, OH - Justin Justice delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning as West Michigan edged Dayton, 4-3 and reduced its magic number to 1. If Beloit beats South Bend on Sunday, the Whitecaps will clinch a playoff berth, otherwise the ‘Caps can clinch with another win Monday in Dayton.

Josh Rainwater pitched two shutout innings of relief to earn the win for the Whitecaps, who held three different leads in the tightly contested game.

Cameron Maybin went 2-for-5 with an RBI double in the first inning. He also scored the game winning run following an infield single to lead off the eighth.

Cory Middleton scored twice for the Whitecaps and in each case was moved into scoring position of sacrifice bunts by Will Rhymes.

Dayton scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth to tie the game twice. Jay Bruce and Mike DeJesus had RBI singles in the third and fourth, respectively. Craig Tatum launched his second home run of the year to knot the game at 3-3 in the fifth.
