Whitecaps FC Launch Fifth Annual #BuckUp for Mental Health Fundraising Campaign

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC have launched the club's fifth annual #BuckUp for Mental Health fundraising campaign in support of Covenant House Vancouver.

This year, the 'Caps are aiming to raise $100,000 for mental health programs for homeless and at-risk youth. To kick-start efforts, Whitecaps FC have already contributed a $25,000 donation to the campaign.

The campaign culminates at the 'Caps match on Saturday, June 9 when Whitecaps FC take on Orlando City SC at BC Place where fans are encouraged to bring their "bucks" to help the cause!

Since 2014, the #BuckUp campaign has raised more than $160,000 for mental health programs. In total, Vancouver Whitecaps FC has donated more than $240,000 to Covenant House Vancouver since 2012.

There are many ways to get involved and support #BuckUp for Mental Health:

1. Raffle - only 1,600 tickets available at a cost of $20 each or three for $50 (limited quantity) and there are two grand prizes: a pair of roundtrip tickets anywhere in WestJet's world and a Whitecaps FC suite night. Order your raffle tickets online at whitecapsfc.com/raffle

2. Auction - bid on one-of-a-kind, "money can't buy" experiences and unique items such as a team-signed merchandise, a BC Place roof tour, a coaching session with club legend Carl Valentine, and a jersey signed by actor Chris Hemsworth, among many other items. 3. Donate - online at whitecapsfc.com/buckup or donate at the match on Saturday, June 9 for a chance to win great prizes including a pair of 2018 season tickets!

"A few dollars may not seem like much, but when we all come together for this worthwhile cause we can make a big difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable youth in our community," said Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi.

"The support that we receive through the #BuckUp for Mental Health campaign enables us to provide the kinds of mental health support that our youth need to really become the best that they can be," added Jennifer Hall, development officer at Covenant House Vancouver.

Funds raised through #BuckUp for Mental Health will be donated to Whitecaps FC community partner Covenant House Vancouver, which serves more than 1,100 homeless youth who access their services every year, many of whom struggle with mental health.
