Whitecaps FC Add Centre Back Adam Clement

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today the addition of centre back Adam Clement - pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate. Per Major League Soccer and club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"Adam impressed us a lot with his quality during the preseason and we believe he has all the tools to become an important contributor within our club," said Martin Rennie, Whitecaps FC head coach.

- Selected 31st overall in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft by Whitecaps FC on January 22, 2013

- Played four seasons with the Duquesne University Dukes

- 2011 and 2012 Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team honours

"This is a dream come true," add Clement. "I've heard that Vancouver is an awesome city with amazing fans and I can't wait to give my all for them."

Clement, 22, spent the latter part of preseason with Whitecaps FC and made four starts, including matches against Arizona Sahuaros, College of Charleston, Houston Dynamo and Carolina RailHawks.

Prior to joining up with Whitecaps FC, Clement played four seasons of NCAA Division I soccer with the Duquesne University Dukes. During his time with Duquesne, the 6-foot-4, 195-pound defender registered four goals and six assists in 71 matches. The Erie, Pennsylvania native received the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team honours for his efforts during his final two seasons with the Dukes, which included three goals and four assists in his senior year.
