
Chicago Fire Midfielder Joel Lindpere Named to Estonian National Team For World Cup Qualifiers

CHICAGO, Ill. (March 14, 2013) - Chicago Fire midfielder Joel Lindpere has been selected by Estonian Men's National Team manager Tarmo R--tli to represent Estonia in their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against the Netherlands March 22 at Amsterdam ArenA in Amsterdam, Netherlands and against Andorra March 26 at A. Le Coq Arena in Tallinn, Estonia.
Lindpere will depart on Sunday, March 17 following the match in Kansas City and return following the Andorra match. He will miss the Fire's match against Chivas USA at Toyota Park March 24 at 4:00 p.m. CT (UniMas/107.9 La Ley FM).
A product of Tallinn, Estonia, Lindpere made his international debut on Nov. 1, 1999 in a friendly against the United Arab Emirates. He scored his first international goal on Feb. 18, 2004 in a 1-0 win over Moldova, and has since scored five goals in 86 total appearances for his country.
Lindpere joined the Fire in a trade from the Red Bulls Jan. 4, 2013 and started in both of the Fire's first two matches of the season.
