Bengtson Called up to Honduras for World Cup Qualifiers

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution forward Jerry Bengtson has been called up to represent Honduras during the country's upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Mexico and Panama. Bengtson will depart the Revolution to join up with Honduras on Sunday, March 17, following the Revs' match at Philadelphia the evening before. He is expected to re-join the Revs on Thursday, March 28.

Honduras, which is currently ranked 49th in the world in the most recent FIFA rankings, will face 15th-ranked Mexico on Friday, March 22, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. On Tuesday, March 26, Honduras will travel to face 41st-ranked Panama in Panama City.

Bengtson, who is currently one of the CONCACAF (North and Central America) region's most potent scorers, has 32 appearances for Honduras and has scored 15 international goals. In his last international appearance on Feb. 6, Bengtson scored the game-winning goal against the United States in the teams' first Hexagonal (final round) Qualifier in the CONCACAF region.
