Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

BRANDON M.B. - The Brandon Wheat Kings edge the Spokane Chiefs 2-1 on Teddy Bear Toss night.

Both clubs traded scoring opportunities including each hitting a post but couldn't open the scoring in the first period.

The Chiefs would end the drought in the second period with Chase Bertholet finding Winnipeg native Ben Bonni in the slot beating Carson Bjarnason to make it 1-0 Chiefs. Then after Nateee Danielson took a high stick which drew blood, the Wheat Kings would go on a 4 minute powerplay. That's where Nate Danielson would place a pass which would go off a Chiefs skate and in to tie the game up at one and send the Teddy Bears Flying. The Wheat Kings would find themselves on a handful of penalty kills in the final stretches of the period but Carson Bjarnason stood tall making a handful of saves to keep it 1-1 heading into the third period.

Nate Danielson was back at it again in the third period setting up another powerplay goal. It was Nolan Ritchie taking a pass from Danielson which would go off the body of Brett Hyland and in to give the Wheat Kings a 2-1 lead. The Wheat Kings would survive a late push from the Chiefs and skate off with 2-1 win.
