Brandon, MB. - Captain Stelio Mattheos stole the spotlight Saturday night as the Brandon Wheat Kings closed out their 2018-19 Western Hockey League season by hosting their annual Awards Night during their game against the visiting Regina Pats at Westoba Place.

A 19-year old Winnipeg product, who was the first player chosen in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, Mattheos took home four awards. In addition to winning the Brandon Sun Trophy for leading the club in scoring with 44 goals and 96 points in 66 games, the 4-year WHL veteran was named winner of the Canad Inns 3 Star Award, the Manitoba Hydro Turk Broda Top Manitoba Born Player as well as the Meighen Haddad LLP Most Valuable Player.

Joining Mattheos as multi-winners Saturday night were Connor Gutenberg and Ben McCartney. This year marked the first year that the club has awarded the Mike Adamski Award, named after longtime public address announcer, teacher and principal who passed away in 2017.
