What's Onyx, White and Red All Over?
March 6, 2014 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Toronto FC News Release
Toronto FC officially unveiled its alternate kit for the 2014 season before a capacity crowd at Real Sports Bar & Grill on Thursday evening, as Toronto FC players Jeremy Hall and Andrew Wiedeman modeled the new kit for fans attending the annual MLSE Foundation Players' Gala. The team's primary red kit will remain unchanged from the 2013 season.
The alternate kit is a unique new shade of Onyx featuring World Cup-inspired design lines and nine columns of maple leaves. Another new design element is the metallic silver heat-applied graphics, which will provide superior durability. Made from ultra-light Adizero material, it is the lightest Toronto FC kit ever made and will provide extra freedom of movement and comfort.
"We feel that this bold, new Onyx kit is a perfect statement as we head into what promises to be a special season for the club," said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. "The kit is reflective of our new approach toward innovation at Toronto FC highlighted by its cutting edge performance technology, while also incorporating a strong Canadian theme."
As part of Major League Soccer's (MLS) "Jersey Week", each club will debut at least one new kit prior to the 2014 season opening weekend. Primary and secondary kits are used in two-year cycles and the club's red kit is scheduled to be updated for the 2015 season.
Fans can purchase the Onyx jersey online through the team's website or in person at Real Sports Apparel (15 York St.) or at BMO Field on match days. For more information about Toronto FC merchandise, please visit www.mlsgearcanada.ca/mls-team-toronto-fc.html .
