Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS - The Westchester Knicks (18-15), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, fell to the Raptors 905 (13-20) at the Westchester County Center tonight, the final score 98-89.
Fresh off the All-Star Break, the two teams came prepared to ball. A back-and-forth first quarter saw eight lead changes and three ties before Westchester gave way to the Raptors 905, as the visitors went on a 12-2 run late in the quarter to secure the lead.
It was all Raptors in the second as the 905 held the Knicks to just 16 points and nine total rebounds. In comparison, Raptors 905 finished the quarter with 28 points and 21 rebounds. With all but two players contributing to the score in the second quarter, Raptors 905 headed into the locker room with a 59-41 lead, the largest of the game.
The Knicks guards came alive in the third as Jimmer Fredette and Travis Trice II broke their bucket seals to combine for 18 points. Holding the Raptors 905 to 18 points in the quarter, Westchester cut their deficit to just six heading into the final twelve minutes.
The teams lit up the fourth quarter as the Knicks managed to tie it up off a 7-0 run, ultimately finding their first lead since the first quarter thanks to a three from Trice. The one-point lead, found twice again, wouldn't last for Westchester though, as the Raptors 905 closed out the game on a 10-2 run, securing a 98-89 win.
Five Knicks contributed double-digit scoring in the loss, led by Thanasis Antetokounmpo with 15 points. Travis Trice II notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists. Jordan Bachynski also dropped in 14 points, while Jimmer Fredette finished with 13. Darion Atkins and Gani Lawal combined for 22 rebounds.
Axel Toupane paced the Raptors 905 with 20 points, while big man Sim Bhullar recorded a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Scott Suggs finished with 14 points, Greg Smith with 13.
The Westchester Knicks are back at the Westchester County Center this Friday, Feb. 19 to host the Iowa Energy, the Memphis Grizzlies affiliate, at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on MSG 2 and on the NBA Development League's YouTube channel.
